Is there any way to use sound forge to creat a clear rear surround effect?
Hi, My name is Bill Amato. I do sound design for theatres in the cleveland ohio area. In July we will be doing a production in which I would like one of the effects to be the sound of whispering that travels around the audience by means of a manual control. Is there some form of joystick controller for this?
Hey there,
Just wondering what's used (hardware that is) to record 5.1/5.2 surround using SX? Mainly, I'm seeking info on what type of mixer, the best, or better yet, decent monitors & any additional processing that's used to get this started.
When music is made into surround format, is it truly 5 discreet channels? What I need to know is, is it a 2 track stereo mix that is 'encoded' for surround, or what is the process.
When completed is it still a 2 track master? It's not 5 tracks ...is it?
Thanks,
Mike
what the best bet in terms of a mixer for a surround setup. also, price is a consideration. we were thinking of the 02R 96, or the DM2000. There's also a Sony dmx board.
however, i'm slightly hesitant of the A/D D/A of the Yamaha. the Sony board is a bit more expensive and has some problems with plugins and DAW integration-- so I heard.
Our studio has just been given it's first chance to mix a 5.1 surround for a concert DVD. We run Pro Tools. Any advise, suggestions, tips, tricks or things we should know?
So after you have your 5.1 mix completed in SX how do you encode with Dolby Digital AC-3 to play on DVD players and what do you need to have it play on DVD Audio players?
Hi all,
I'm currently working on a project that I'm eventually going to be delivering in surround sound format.
Are there any online resources you can recommend for discussion of surround mixing techniques?
Initially, my newbie questions are going along the lines of:
I finally mastered my first surround sound release for DVD-A. This was tons of fun. It really took a lot out of me mentally but i'm sure it will get easier the more I do it. This is kind of in response to Don's "will SACD restore dynamics" thread. If you have the monitors calibrated correctly and you monitor at a decent level, it's really uncomfortable to push it to the max.
