I just purchased a very lightly used TLM-103 from a friend to replace my wonky MXL V6. The Marshall is fine for it's price but it took a nasty tumble and now has a lovely dent. After about 5 or 10 minutes it will just decrease in volume until eventually it's dead quiet.

I have a home studio that is mainly used for voice-over work...ie commercials, imaging for radio stations, etc.

Currently I am using a Neumann TLM49 paired with a dbx 286A mic preamp.

I try to find a "perfect match" for voice-overs, narration, spoken word stuff in terms of choosing right mic with appropriate preamp. My choice is narrowed to those mics and preamps mentioned in title. Phantom C & GR ME1NV / Neum TLM49 & j.Hardy M1-or other way around ..? And unfortunatly I can't try those by myself.

Any help is more than welcome.

my price range is around $700-$800 and i am looking for either of these or any mic in this price range used. i run a small home studio right now in my home and i am looking to finally step into the world of owning a good large diaphragm mic for vocals. i use a KSM32 right now and i personally think its too multi-functional for really good vocals.

Vote for your favorite sounding mic out of these three.

its in pretty good shape but it took a fall and the screen is dented. I reckon it should be tested too to see that it performs like they say it should... where can I send it? an recommendations?

also, how much will it cost about... anyone know? thanks!

I've made some major changes to my gear in the last few months in an effort to try something different. This leads me to the following question:

I bought a brand new Neumann TLM 103 from Guitar Center a little over a week ago and I really really don't like it. I bought it on GC's no payment for a year plan so it's not even paid off and I already hate it. They also have a no return policy on mics- so what should I do?

Who here owns or makes frequent use of MKH40's ? What is your favorite application for them? I am wondering if they are ok for use as a main pair or at least for emphasizing a section or solist. How would you compare them to TLM193's in similar applications?

I'm curious to hear from folks who've used them extensively.

So this has been covered a many times in these forums, but now I'm in the position of actually having to choose one of these for a multipurpose (mostly vocals) lg diaphragm condenser- I'm familiar with the TLM 103 and how it sounds. Some folks seem to like the others more.
