Setup for voice-over, vocal recording
Hi there! First post, hope this goes well.
Hi there! First post, hope this goes well.
Hi guys, brand new thread, it feels clean ! Here's a recording I did literally just now. I have a gate at -48dB, preopen-5ms atk-10ms hold-10ms release-100ms. I did those settings because the Gate would chomp away at my words ! For the EQ, I didn't mess around with trying to enhance my voice ! Instead, I just cleaned up the audio by getting rid of over 20KHz ( Beyond human hearing anyway !
Voice-over actor. Chain: RODE nt1 to dbx 386s to Tascam dr-40 w input gain at 1. Room: 3x4 closet w acoustic foam. Not using computer to save space, eliminate fan noise. Results are quiet (no hiss or hum) but VOs sound brittle and tinny. Is AD conversion compromised greatly by Tascam? Is there a sub $1K recorder that would improve results?
Hi !
I am new to recordings and want your help in choosing the microphones.
I have scarlett 2i2 Interface.
I have a mid tone (midway between bassy and bright) kind of Voice and Want to product deep basy kind of Voice overs. I have heard Several Youtubers and VO artist who produce warm rich sounding recordings! but in reality their voice is not that bassy !
Hello all,
I'm a complete novice when it comes to high-endmicrophones and audio recording. I'm familiar with recording on USB microphones which basically do most of the work for you.
However, since I do video production, I've decided to step up my audio game for voice-overs.
I am just new to voice overs. So I was comparing my sound with other guys ! I Found a huge difference in quality.
Here is the link attached to the sound ! First 2 are some random voice overs and third one is my random recording for comparison.

Hello,
I am pretty new to sound recording and especially editting. I need to prepare samples of separate english words for a teaching software.
I already made some recordings of the VO talent with ZOOM H4, 96kHz, WAW. The recording consists of separate words.
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the audio world and I want to record some voice-overs and videos spending between $ 50-100.
The best options I found so far (maybe I'm wrong):
1) An USB mic such as "Blue Microphones Snowball USB"
2) A normal mic, such as "Shure SM48-LC Vocal Dynamic Microphone"
I'm a newbie in the sound field. I already got 2 Behringer devices. A composer pro-xl MDX2600 and A multicom PRO-XL MDX4600. I want to setup both of them as a "voice over compression" or Ducking but I do really have not idea how to do it. I though the device user manual shows how to do that but Behringer devices manual only states just a few words about it.
Hi
Can anyone guide me as to how will the AKG C214 microphone will be suitable for voice-overs.
Anyone who has used the mic, or owned it.
Have not found many reviews on the same, if can guide.
