Okay, Okay, I'm really sorry for needing to post this. I've called and talked to the vendors, and I've been doing my homework on this for the past few weeks, but I'm having a hard time compiling anything worthwhile.
I need to add a Pro Tools rig to my system, just for compatibility's sake. I don't want to replace my system, just get enough to make things transfer, I guess.
I'm just wondering what the REAL APPRECIABLE differences are going to be between an MBOX2Pro and the Firewire 410 + M Powered PT, or the REAL APPRECIABLE difference between the MBOX2Mini and the MobilePre and M Powered PT.
I understand that the pres and the a/d/a conversion between units will be different, and probably audibly so. Am I right? If so, how much?
What is the REAL difference between M Audio's and Digi's Pro Tools 7? If it's something serious I'm not afraid to drop on the real deal, I just want to make sure that I'm not throwing money at something that I really only need as a platform.
Thanks, guys, you've always been most helpful.

As it was clarified for me, I don't think the M-audio products ship with M-Powered. So, you would need to purchase an interface as well as PTMP. If you were to buy an M-Box 2 Pro, that would include LE. Either way you spend around $600-700. Personally I would stick with the M-Box.

You can use a cheap M-Audio card (24/96 Audiophile, or the Firewire Audiphile for $100) and buy PT-MP for $249 - that's only $349 total. SPDIF out of the M-Audio into your primary Audio Interface for monitoring purposes.
That's what I do, and I can even have PT MP and Nuendo open AT THE SAME TIME!!! You can even bus signals back and forth over SPDIF if you want to.

Prices in the USA are pretty low nowadays for these products.
I just did exactly that. I already had a Panasonic DA7 digital console with ADAT cards installed. I got a Mix+ system with 2 ADAT bridges for about $2000 on Ebay. It runs circles around a 003 or any other LE/M-Powered system. I know 7.3 has some new features and the ability to run softsynths, but I have my old AMD64x2 DAW with a RME Hammerfall card I just put GS3 Orchestra on and it all runs great. I plan to do a firewire network between the 2 PC's so I can export/import files mixes between them as the AMD machine has 2 UAD1 cards with lots of plugs. This is the first time since I owned a real studio that I have been satisfied with capabilities of my gear where that I feel I can do anything I want. The 64 tracks and up to 72 I/O make the Protools Mix+ a real powerful system.
