So I have been hearing a lot about this book. But if I buy it I want to be be sure Im going to get something from it that will get me ready to go. Anybody hear about it or read it?

It's a wonderful book!

I find that it does a better job helping you to understand WHAT mastering is and how to have tracks prepared prior to mastering.

That being said, there's some wonderful advice in the book and it resides permanently on the back of my studio's toilet (to me, the ultimate compliment for any studio literature.)

Cheers!

A) Agreed, it's a great book.

B) It's *NOT* a book about "how to be a mastering engineer" or anything else of the sort. It should be required reading - But it's not a training manual for mastering.

It really is about "mastering" (in the broader sense) audio.
