PT is considered "standard" in studios and the combi of mbox and PT will give you certainly good results.

i am a big fan of logic and always prefer it comparing to all the other apps outhere, reason is it is by far the strongest in terms of midi which is very important to me, and it can do about everything you ever will need to either record, edit or create / write music, it comes with a ton of real high quality plugs and amazingly good softsynths, so the package gets you going trough an entire production process for a long while, you hardly need 3rd party plugs unless they are serious like a UAD-1 or waves (and a few other HQ plugs)

also the integration in for maybee future expansion is superb with final cut pro and other pro apple apps (wanna make filmscores or your own videos??)

and i would spend the money of the cost of an mbox (just the hardware) rather on something like RME....

but that's just my 2cents, if you "need" to learn or stick to the so called "standard" go PT... (whoever created that it is "standard", just because most people are using it... most people eat MC D and watch television too... :-))

So, for 500 bucks it's probably a pretty good start in the craft. M-Audio stuff is OK and Pro Tools(At least the "real" Pro tools), is the "standard" of the recording industry. You could probably have done worse......

My sound card and software cost a grand AND doesn't "do" as much as your stuff will! So what!?!? Mine does what it DOES do "better" than yours does. So what??? My NEW soundcard(When purchased for more than a grand, all by itself) STILL won't "do" as much as yours will. So what??? IT will do what IT does ALOT better than yours. So what??? Your's will do OK and lots more to play with, too. Fine.

If you had the "real" Pro Tools and some "real" equipment for thousands and thousands of dollars you wouldn't know what to do with it anyway, at least until you'd had a few years of experience and by then you'd have to replace the - now ancient - stuff!!!

You got it(Why in the Heck you ask such a question AFTER your purchase is beyond me, but, you got it...), it'll be fine. Learn to use it. When you come accross something you wish worked "better", note it. When you have enough notes to make a rational decision and enough money to pay for it, go get something "better".

Exactly! It doesn't matter what you bought, as long as you can get your ideas on it and out to other people thats all that matters. You could get on here and give any hardware/software combo and someone would come on and bash it in one way or another. Eventually you might want to upgrade and thats cool, thats part of this industry, I've been doing this for a year and a half and have upgraded twice already. Way to go on the purchase and get creating.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I made a good purchase. Reason I asked AFTER is because all I heard was positive things on it so got it but then came on here and heard a lot of bad things on it.... Seems like it will be fine for me now though. I don't know how to even use it all yet.
