Hi Renie,

The dithering mixer will not affect the file you record to disk unless you are bringing in audio on an aux channel, busing it and then recording it down. But if you are recording into an audio channel straight from your converter the only dithering the mixer might be doing is in the monitoring to your output channels, but the file itself will not contain any dithering or be affected in any way by the dithering mixer. In other words, the info you have been given is generally not correct.

Bare in mind that the dithering mixer is identical to the standard mixer in all but two respects: The dithered mixer provides the mix bus with more headroom than the standard mixer and the dithered mixer dithers at those points where the standard mixer would truncate or round.

Although this information relates to PT|Mix, the same should be true of PT|HD.
