I'm an ex singer in a rock band. Got away because of the crazy life it brought but miss making music. I want to start recording at home as a hobby to start. My old band did some recording in a basement but was all done by one of the other members through a mixer and a computer. My gift is in vocals and I want to concentrate on making beautiful harmonies with some effects. I can play the guitar good enough for some background noise but no other instruments but plan on using electric/acoustic guitars, drums and keys all done by myself. Just simple background music. Again I want to concentrate on the vocal quality. So the question is, can I get a recommendation on a book to read and some good starter equipment that will allow for 8 tracks, has effects, maybe a drum machine and inputs for keys, guitars. I would like to be able to burn the music too. If it works with my computer then that is ok. Mic recommendations are needed too. At start I can spend $1000 and add on later. I'm thrilled that I found this site and I appreciate all your help in advance.
