Freeform is so cool, but when using freeform, should I be able to mute and unmute tracks while playing back? I'm getting streaming errors when I Unmute during playback.
Thanks,
John

Thanks for the reply Dedric. I noticed that my 2 drives don't have any dma settings. I'm looking to see if there are some drivers available that might give me dma. The drive specs say they support dma.
ST310230A and ST317242A
Thanks again.

If you aren't getting streaming errors during normal playback, and only when unmuting freeform tracks *during* playback, then I would say this could be expected - the reason is that freeform basically treats all of the tracks as one track, with multiple layers. To do this Paris would need to read all of the freeform tracks as one stream. When you unmute, it would have to read the lower layered, unmuted track and, decide which track in the heirarchy to play on the fly (i.e. which is "peeled" away, revealing lower layers to playback). Again, this is a little bit of a guess. I'll keep this in mind to try next time I use freeform.
