hello.
over next weekend i am having a long band rehersal/jam type thing that i would like to record, but with very limited resouces. would it be possible to get a good sound just putting up a couple of sm58 style mics around the room and press record... or is that a bit optamistic?

Hi catchpenny, SM58s are useless for picking up sound if the source is more than 2 feet away from the mic. You'd be better off getting a couple of condenser mics or boundary mics for recording ambient room stuff.
