Sorry, but there's nothing like a logic-demo out on the web, nor is at emagics website.
They had one out for Version 3.5 (wich is close to V.5 but without VST-instruments/plugins and automation) on a demo-CD though.

You definitely want to have a look on this program, when someone who knows it is working with it and can give you a push in the right direction. Is there anyone you know using this program? If so, force him/her to give you an overview and tell you some realworld experiences. (same as checking out other programs IMHO...)
You certainly want to be able to transfer songs between workspaces take that into consideration as well.

But in the end...take the plunge and be a trendsetter, logic already rules Europe - it will certainly spread over to America within the next year ;)

I do hear a lot about Pros using Logic, and ever since I saw the first screen shot in a guitar magazine 6 or seven years ago, I have wanted to try it. I am getting close to buying Sonar, but I wanted to give Logic a good look first, but no one I know uses it.

Hey, I read some of your other posts, seems, that logic might be a bit a too big step for your needs.
It's power is in quantizing, automation and MIDI, while you seem to look for a "multitrack"-system with integrated FX, I suppose...
But if you're working with MIDI - definitely go logic!!!!

I've been using Logic for apx 3 years now and this program is the ticket for heaven. Theplug-insare top notch and extremely usable, you can program your own screensets, recording midi or audio is a piece of cake, when you get past the learning curve. And you can edit to your heart content!
All in all, this is an ultra professionnal tool. I swear by this program. And it works so fast, it is amazing. I have a ton of modules hooked to it via a Unitor8 midi interface. And don't forget Sound Diver, the librarian-editor, wich eases my life and manages my sounds.
You can't loose if you get this program. Once you get the hang of it, you will be hooked.

To tell you the truth, I really don't know what I need. That comment about Logic being too big a step for me really sounded like an insult(however true it might be)
I already bought Sonar, but I think I am going to send it back. I still use a program called Magix midi studio, which is software written on technology licensed from Emagic. It is really Micro-Logic AV. Check it out at Magix.com.

All I want to do for now, is write songs. I want a place where I can record ideas, and organize them in a logical way where I can go back to them from time to time.
I play guitar, I have the means to go direct, or mic an amp. I have a radio shack microphone, that I use on the amps, and will use on vocals. after I get a nice preamp, I am also going to upgrade the mic. I use a Korg EM-1 for drums, and using midi is a good way for me to play the drum pattern into a sequencer, then tweak it from there. I use my guitar through my effects pedal, to get a bass sound. Right now, it's good enough, because the bass is normally covered up for most of the music I do.
What attracted me to Logic, originally was the GUI, then I always hear how people would use Logic and Protools almost interchangably. Although I won't be doing any pro-releases, I would like the option for the future. Also, after I have a song worked out, I want to build the best possible demo I could make. I don't know the ins and outs yet, but I am sure when I start marketing my songs, they will have to sound really good. Of course this means I'll eventually be upgrading everything.
I also hear about the great effects that come standard with Logic, and I read good reviews about the VSTi's that Emagic put out. I really like old Rock-n-Roll, and old R&B. Eventually I'll get into those styles also, and I can't afford a real B3, rhodes or whurly. I like Clavs too.
I have been hanging around here for along time, and I feel really stupid for not being able to decide which sequencer is right for me. The focus around here, is more on production and running studios and what not.
The only thing I see that sonar has over Logic right now, is the seemless integration of working with loops. Right now, I don't really care for loops, I don't want to spend my time trying to find one, when (at this stage) I can easily lay a drum track down, that will suit my purposes. As I get into this and learn more about loops, I may be more interested.
The only thing I am not satisfied with on my Logic copy, is insert effects into a channel. Again this may be over my head, but iwould like to try some of the tips&tricks I get of this board. And I can't get the wave player to work. I am using an ASIO card, and it says it needs directX drivers so, oh well.
More than likely what I will do, is get Logic audioSilver5 for now. Hopefully the only difference there is between silver & platinum is the track count. Try as I might, I Have never needed more than sixteen tracks.I can buy the effects and instruments over time. however my wife always tell me to get what I want, and get it over with (I worry about stupid shit all the time). She for some odd reason believes that if I'd have bought a LesPaul a long time ago, I wouldn't have five guitars now.

Just picked up LAG 4.8 with the exs24 package. As far as I can tell, this is what I wanted. I guess I didn't know how to ask my question before. I was hoping for a program that would help me write tunes for the style of music I like. Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Southern Rock, Blues Rock.
The thing I needed to see was softsamplers. With this exs24,I can load anysound I want, and play it from a midi keyboard. I already knew that I wanted to get the B4 from NI, and this is just going to add to it. Plus I even got the EVP88 for free, Honky Tonk here I come.
