I am a new user to recording. I have a midi keyboard connected to my apple computer. When I open logic express and hit the keyboard keys, I can see the software receiving data but I can't hear anything. What am I doing wrong?

Logic Express
Hi:
I tried the instructions you gave, but still no sound. I have disconnected everything and only leave the midi keyboard which is connocted via the USB port. When Logic is loaded it has about 10 instruments loaded in different tracks. I select the track, you can see the system receiving data, but still no sound. Garage band does play sound.

hi marjohn, you have to select (highlight) the according track
hi marjohn,
you have to select (highlight) the according track you want to trigger, (if it is an audio instrument, make shure it is selected / loaded into the audio instrument channel as well, under audio channel I/O you can select which software instrument you like to have under that channel... or if you want to trigger hardware, like a rackmount synth say, make shure you select the right midi channel (click hold on the trackname and a box will pop up where you can select between audio instruments, midi, audio tracks and so on...)
hope it helps :D
