Gang,

I need to know how many of you would like to be included in our "contest"... in which a RO member gets his tune mastered by all of us who volunteer to do so.I wanna know how many people are interested, so I can determine the max length of the submission. If only a few folks are interested then the submission can be over 3:30. All I ask is that if you say you do it, you will (if you can't I'll give the slot to someone else). I would like to be included as does Bill (I think he is on vacation) so that's 2 so far.

I am out of town at my Summer home until the 22nd (a good 700 miles away).

I will be ready to move on this anytime after the 24th of July.

Count me in.

I can provide the compilation CD's after receiving all the mastering and can put it all down with a good worksheet. Maybe we can do some art as well...just send your ideas to me ...no problem.

As I said previously, My facility is in Alma, Arkansas and from that locale, mailing USPS is only 3 days for most folks. I do not mind the overseas shipping as long as it is figured in.

Have we received the "go ahead" on the song Paul?

Any song before and after is fine for me but comparisons in translation betwen engineers and systems would br best with the same track.

As I said earlier...we can do track one as the unmastered. The engineer/Studio for track 2, next track 3, next tk 4...etc.

Ready, willing and able after 7/24!

Email me at one of these addresses and I can give mailing details.

Oh, one other thing, how about witholding studio & engineer names for a week or two after mailing? I think it'd be easiest to get some good, unbiased discussion going before we all know whose is whose.

Hello Everyone.

Instead of downloading (some of use don't have 300KB/S service) then just send me the track and I will prepare all the CD's and send them back out.

Have we decided to use Pauls track?

That way everyone will get a clean fresh clone of the master and you will have no problem with download times, MP3 compression, compression artifacts...etc.

Then just send me the Mastered version and I will compile it on another CD with everyones work and send Paul the Order sheet. I like the idea of keeping it confidential for a couple of weeks so you can see if you recognize your mastering job. All we need is the mixed track...all of us agreeing on it and we are ready to go.

Cool?

I do have a bunch of tunes ready..From Jazz to acoustic chamber to full scale classical and even some quality metal.

The problem with my material is that...well it has all been premastered, press ready BUT I do have the 2-buses as well.

Genre need to be decided on. My favorite stuff is Live piano Jazz...but again...the song "contest" would comprise of different types and stules of mixing.

I think we are all curious to listen to each others systems and skills so if someones translation is off big time or their is a problem or problems somewhere that other ears can agree on...everyone benefits.

This does not have to be too difficult...tell me what you guys need and I shall make the necessary arrangements.

I have another "out of town" gig WED-SUN this week...but will stay close to the emails.

Uh, I'd say let's do this one thing at a time, and can the idea of a song contest until next time. Bill and Paul are the point men- if you two can get together and come up with a song that's, I don't know, pretty middle of the road style wise, that's what we should use. I would add that it would be wonderful to have it be a song that has been/will be mastered by a 'name' engineer as well, for comparison purposes.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself!
