Mic modeler is the only plug in I know ot that has the ability to change teh charicteristics of the mic. I use it and love it. I will say that when I use one of my nicer mics it makes a BIG difference. Though I have never had the chance to A/B the modeler to the real deal I have A/Bed my 4050 and TLM103 to to several other top mics. It was the process I used to decide to buy these mics. And I can say without doubt that the mic modeler makes your mic sound like another mic. I challenge anyone to find 2 47s that sound the same! And as far as using a good mic up front what I mean is the 103 as a 251 sounds more liek what I remember than a 57 as a 251. In fact I find the 57 to a 251 sounds like my 421. Crazy! But, this is the plug in you need if you want to be able to change the sound of the mic you used after. It really does make my mic collection a lot more diverse. Also. McDSP plug ins ALL will make you Digi sound better.
