Hi
I use a Yamaha MD8 and the mic preamps are pretty bad. I was looking into mic preamps around the sub $300 price range. I was thinking of getting the Joemeek VC3Q which goes for $200. I'd like opinions of this unit and I'd also like to know if another mic preamp beats the Joemeek in quality in the $200-300 price range.

I used to have one of the original VC3's with the enhancer instead of EQ. I loved it. The mic pre was great for the price and Joe Meek compression is fantastic! I never once used the enhancer and don't know about the EQ on the VC3Q. I would certainly recommend it if your budget is limited to $300. BTW, the reason I sold my VC3 was to buy a Joe Meek SC2.2 stereo compressor. And I love it even more than the VC3! :) Hope this helps.
