Okay i know this is a very stupid question but if i were to buy a mixer how would i connect that to a computer like insted of (ill use it as a example)a fire wire mixer.

With a normal built in sound card in your PC you have the 1 mic/line in that you could plug the mixer into. two lines out of the mixer to a stero 1/8th inch plug to the mic in or the mono out to the pc (line in). look here

The Onyx 1220, 1620, and 1640 boards all have a firewire option, however the the actual firewire card has to purchased separately. This is a great way to stream 12-16 tracks directly to your computer, without any other external hardware device.
