:) Hey Roly, I am having a new system installed, video on/off line system all SDI except for a few component items. The installer recommends this cable. The reason, as he explained to me, is the center conductor is stranded. He said the flexibility keeps the center conductor from changing the impedance of the cable by maintaining it's proper position, delivering true 75 ohms. They require special connector and crimp tool if you are using BNC type. If you are using RCA, I suppose any quality, tough, well made one will do. I can find out more about it if you have more specific questions. Perhaps there are special RCA fittings for that cable.

The ones here in the shop have RCA connectors from the factory.
Are BNC to RCA adaptors out of the question for word clock cables?
I can get both for cost + 10 %

:) Hey Roly, my take is that I would, given a choice of adapters, use BNC to RCA (fits snugger and locks), rather than RCA to BNC(can pull loose).

I have learned a lot about so much of late, if your going for that pristine connection, have it configured for what you need. Better off, even though a problem may not present itself, which can't be guaranteed, would it not feel better knowing you have a nice solid connection?

I will see my installer this week, I'll ask a zillion questions while we work. I am just getting over the UPS vs. Switch type power systems they hit me with. I thought that these monster APC's and Tripp-lites were the same, nope. :d:

I'll let you know what I find out about the connections. (sorry for the rant)

Thanks for your advice.
This stuff is so skinny that I don't know if there are BNC connectors for it. I've done plenty of BNC terminations with RG6 and RG59 for installs, there no fun.
