monitor placement height

I get the best imaging when the tweeters in my speaks are at eye heighth when I'm sitting down...Also if they form an equilateral triangle where my mix position is one point of the triangle...Also...very important is to have nothing around the monitors....free air if you will...I dont want to excite anything nearby and add some little noise that may not be all that audible but will show up in the mix....the distance off of the walls nearby is very important....remember, free air is your monitors friend.

Everything Dave said is dead on with my experience as well.

It depends on the monitor design but you generally want the center of the image about centered with your head (vertically).

Another factor to consider is to be sure your monitors are either above or below the 1/2 way point between the ceiling and the floor. That is if you have an 8 foot ceiling, you dont want your monitors to be 4 feet off the floor..

How far from the floor are your monitors??
I have to convert those numbers into the metric system.
My monitors are around (after conversion) 3,1/2
feet from the floor 105cm. Does that sound right?

Just don't place the half way between the floor and cieling. Because that's where the nulls and reinforcing modes occure..

I'm in a 8 foot ceiling too and i just measured my eyes line site to speaker highs and its 4'4" ,

so the question is, would it be OK to place them higher, angled down to me???

i'm thinking of having my monitors a little higher and angled down to me due to space constraints. ie, my computer monitor being in the way.
