cool.
im actually thinking if i go with a sub, which id like to, i can go with 5" drivers as opposed to 8's since my base will be covered by the sub and i can allow the monitors to be more clear for everything else solely.
after some more reading of reviews, im looking towards the yamaha 3 piece for i believe $700. not a bad price and i hear everyone is really happy with the 5" monitors with the 10" sub.
but, as always, i appreciate input and more opinions and suggestions!

Well, you already seem to have a pair of 8 inch monitors? Those are semi adequate. But really, those RP5's make for a great mixing reference monitor. I don't think they're too small because they sound so big? Do they have the same lower octave output capabilities of my 10 inch drivers on the 4312's? Nope but once you get your bearings & reference points, from listening to other well-known material. That way you'll know exactly what you're listening to without any smear. I hate the smearing of the stereo image while monitoring when subs are included. People will tell you that "low frequencies do not have directional characteristics the same as higher frequency drivers, so you can put your sub anywhere". Well that's not entirely correct. More bad community information. I hear it as there are still time delay differences and other acoustic anomalies that contribute to imaging smear. This is just a sad excuse for not having full range monitors to begin with. A consumer Band-Aid that has become as popular as toilet paper over tweeters, because one particular model was too bright for one particular engineer.
Those little RP5's are groovy little full range compact monitors. What more can I say but? USE THEM! A better model has recently also been issued which is more money that I have not yet previewed. Supposedly a substantial audible step up from these previous models that I have, that you're looking at. Either way, I think they kick butt.
Ouch!

Alright, I understand. Do you think it would be worth it to keep
Alright, I understand. Do you think it would be worth it to keep my Samsons as well, maybe for A/B'ing? Or should i just upgrade to the RP5s? Im assuming that you are a pretty firm believe in the RP5s over the other monitors in that range, including the Mackie MRs and Yamaha HS50m's....
I don't have the sub, but I have KRK RP8's, and I will vouch for
I don't have the sub, but I have KRK RP8's, and I will vouch for then anytime! They're great speakers. They sound good, generally translate well (assuming your room allows that, unlike mine) and have decent bass response even without a sub. I'd be very interested in getting the sub the next time I have an extra $300 laying around.
