Hey gang,,,,

I'll be working on my own project while i go thru learning curve of using all my gear.

My first thought was to have a nice sized room, where i could record aswell. ( on other side away from control desk area)..

Or to have minimum recomended sized control room connected to one mid sized recording room ( guitars, vocal)

As much as those two choices will become a decision in itself, my question is this..

when working alone...

How can I "set up" my levels and sounds if my " recording area" is away from my control area?

i know if i set up my levels and sound at the control board, then go back to the "recording" area, it will be a long process before i get the sound I want.

Thanks for the input..

"Run some tape" (digits?) while in the other room - Playback and adjust.

Always hated that... But I certainly remember yelling "2 inches off from the center and slightly angled towards the edge" and such followed by "2 inches from the edge and pointed at the center..."

Then going back into the control room and listening to what sounded better...

Heya Massive, thanks for ideas...

not sure what you meant by sending " digits" so i'll wait on that one

but I did like idea of trying different set ups all in one take and verbally saying them so you could refference on listen back.

or make notes when using DI or whetever

I guess once I go thru process a few times, set ups should shorten if i'm going for the same feel in a track ..

hmmm , me thinks this learnning curve is goona be a long one :)

thanks
again
