I'm really new but want to get aquainted to this biz so what do i get and i hope its cheap.lol. I'm not looking into comp. mixing. mstlyjut recording on a digital rec. or casette.i hate comp. at least mine takes way too long to start up and s slow.i have my dads old mixer its a boss. and a mic. one of those chepo ones.any help is much wanted thank you.

If you have the right software and computer and sound card, recording on a computer can be a wonderful experience. Mostly due to the superior editing possibilities and the ability to manipulate the audio files without having to go through tons of outboard gear.

One if the most important things in a recording chain is a good mic. If you are going to spend any money and you already have a digital recorder, that might be a good place to start.
