seeinheisers 280 work great for me- Gives you great isolation, great for recording vocals as well... (about $90 USD) :D

I 2nd that, I use the 280's and they are great at isolation and work well for drummers and vox...

yeah thats a bit out of my budget... 90US turns out to be around 160-180...Australian. Corrrect me if im wrong. Im just a newbie with mixing and stuff. im fairly happy with my $10 sony earbuds with my discman so i dont care too much about performance but i still want decent ones for the price.

has any1 actually got or tested the SONY MDR-V150 headphones?

AKG K-44's- $20 US apop and sound real good. I use these as extra headphones in the studio and some people prefer them over the 280's

i head the akg's are a bit bright.. i was looking for something that can handle mids and bass.

I haven't really found them overly bright- and hey, these are the best $20 US headphones outhere IMHO. Of course my seinheiser 280's are more detailed but you alreaady said you can't afford $100 US for a pair of headphones...

haha okay well u seem to kno alot about headphones so ill consider the akg's i saw them on ebay for about 50AU. are they sutable for computer use?

I've only had the 44's so I can't advise you on the other ones... perhaps you could try them at the music store-
or someone else in this forum might have had some experience with them

how about the Sennheiser HD202 Headphones? i read a few reviews about the akgs and they say they are more for classical music?

The 66's will give you more bass. I have K-100's (out of production now) which are brighter. The 66's are much warmer sounding, but less isolation. I like them both, but for different things.
