Hi Guys.
I’m a music producer based in Johannesburg South Africa. I work a lot with a young female singer that sounds a bit like Avril Lavigne and a bit like Kelly Clarkson. I’d like to buy two mics that would suit her voice and style (Pop rock), but naturally get more bang for my buck too.
I’ve narrowed by search down to Lawson or Peluso. These ‘boutique’ mics are not available in South Africa which is why I pose the questions before I import them.
My choice is either:
1. Lawson L47 and L251
2. Peluso 22 251 and 22 47
3. Peluso 22 251 and P12
I have this to ask.
Which company / brand has the best build quality?
Which mic combo would best suit my requirement but also be suited to other uses?
The mic preamp’s I use are Focusrite Liquid Safire 56, Focusrite Liquid Channel and Focusrite Voicemaster Pro.
Any advice would be good.
Thanks
Gary

Bock or its former line Soundlux will be the best you can buy at that price range. Above that will involve the Neumanns and the Manley line.
The Soundlux 251 or the U99 is a killer mic for ALL vocals girl or boy.

FYI I bought the Lawson mics. For the price point you essentially get 4 mics for the price of 2. They are sounding great. Also upgraded my pre's to ISA 828 and Liquid 4 Pres.
