can you slow something down in logic pro (or peak!) without involving a timestretch algorithm, ie slow it down like you would with a pitch control slider on a turntable so the duration and pitch are changed proportionally. or am i being stupid?i couldn't find it.

this has got to be my lamest post yet but any help would be appreciated. i ended up doing it on another older machine, wondering what i had spent all this money on a new one for!

many thanks

In logic you can do that, if all your material is audio. if it is midi it will obviously remain in the right pitch.

but i tell you a very easy way / trick to do it better (i think!) than using logics tempo change function.

there is an turntable emulator AU plugin called: Turntablist for FREE on htpp://destroyfx.org/

it has FULL automation capabilitys in logic, so you can use it over hardware controls, very nice!!

here is what you do...
if you want to speed up or down the entire track, just assign all tracks into one bus and place turntablist into that bus, now you can change ALL parameters e.g. the speed / amount of changes run turntablist (it comes with a full spec PDF manual!) and record the result into a new track, here we go!! 100% the original sound effect of a real turntable being slowed down or speed up, switcht on or off and so on..., you can even scratch in real time over a slider on one of your midi devices for example, and it reacts and sounds like a turntable... absolut NO difference, to the real deal, i use a ribbon controller on an old SU10, for scratching, so i get even the feel of the real deal!!!

happy turntabling....

if you want you can obviously use logics time change function without correcting the pitch, in thge tempo list editor, but i found it a little less convinient for that particular effect... and not sounding as real to a turntable, as a turntable doesn't slow down 100% gradually...

but it works also in logic, no problem.
