I know PreSonus has a decent preamp reputation, and I like that there aren't any superfluous features that distract from the primary purpose, which I suspect helps keep the price low.
Anyway, it looks like the FirePod is generally available now. Has anyone had a chance to try it out? I'd like a second opinion before it seduces me.

It appears to be retailing for $599.

I have a M80 here and have been living with it for a few months. I don't think the Presounus pres sound any better than the pres in my Mackie SR24 and the Mackie pres can get more gain than the Presonus can ...
I have tried more than once to get something good out of the M80 and have been frustrated each time without fail ... I hate the thing...

i've got the firestation, with the hybrid preamps, and they seem fine to me. the solid state side is nice and clean with more than enough gain for me, while tube drive sounds pretty nice on guitars and such, but not so much on anything else. i will also vouch for the tech support at presonus as being awesome, if that might be a factor in your decision. as for the firepod, though, i haven't heard it, so i don't know if the pres are the same as mine.
cedar flat fats... wanna sell your m-80?
