Can you use VST plugins with Pro Tools or does it rely on RTAS plugins?
I ask as I was speaking to one of my lecturers at college last week about his studio that he has, which he uses Logic as the DAW, just to get his opinion on what he prefered working with and he mentioned he liked both but prefered logic only because pro tools used a different format for plugins.
I didn't quite catch all that he said but if anyone can shed some light that would be great.
I'll mention just now that i'm not even sure what RTAS means.

- You can't use VST plugs as is. You need to use the adapter from Fxpansion. (see link above)
- RTAS plugs are like fx boxes. you insert them and you can adjust the settings as the song plays back. Every time you use an RTAS plugin it takes up a bit more memory from your computer.
Eventually, when you get too many going, the computer won't be able to keep up and will start to stutter.
-TDM plugins don't use the computer memory to work, instead they use a dedicated card that Digidesign sells for for about 8K. But space there is limited as well.
