how do u make a drum machine not sound like a drum machine? lol

Ive seen many sample sets like DRUMS FROM HELL and the like...do u capture the drums, convert it to midi, and then control the software?
How are u guys doing it?

Yep, could be MIDI-triggered samples of some format loaded into a software drum kit like DFH.

Or, some people use loops, which contain x# of bars for a phrase that can usually be mainpulated in some ways. String a bunch together, with different loops in parts (breaks, turnarounds, ride replacing hi-hat, etc.), and you have drum tracks. Those loop libraries may contain individual samples that can be used in a software drum kit, and MIDI-triggered.

I'm not good with loops. I'm more of a linear constructionist, and like to have control over each individual event. May be more work, but it's also more tweakable...at least to me.

Since I have no room for real drums, MIDI drums are the one thing I MUST use in nearly everything I do. (Plus, the neighbors appreciate it).
I've gotten fairly good at conjouring up drum tracks that sound almost real...or so I'm told.
