Hey guys,
I'm a newbie and i've only done really small "projects" (i use that term really loosely :lol: ) Right now i'm using an older version of cakewalk homestudio, and a bundle version of Cubase that came with my Tascam us-122. Now i want take the whole recording thing up a notch. I want to be able to record multiple tracks simultaneously and have a good program to mix them with. I also might be doing a little bit of midi work on it. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for affordable pc software that i might consider using. Keep in mind that i'm using a laptop. If anyone also has any suggestions maybe on recording hardware that i might want to use with my laptop feel free to post them. Remember that i'm a newbie, and i don't know a whole lot about recording...but thats why i joined the forum. :D :D :D

Portable Studio

Here's a few ideas for an intro studio:

hardware interfaces ->
M-Audio FireWire 410, or MOTU 828mkII, or Edirol FA-101.
Each is Firewire, has MIDI I/O, affordable and can be bus powered.

software -> Cubase SE or Logic Express 7.
Fairly inexpensive, easy to learn and works perfectly with MIDI.

Good Luck!
