"Really Good High Quality" may be an over-statement, but for a portable all-in-one DAW, they are not bad at all. Check this link at VS Planet:

I used to own a 2480 for almost two years, the pre's are not that bad, but dont expect a huge sonic difference. If you want to record at a better quality I'd suggest you buy some really high quality pre amps. Do a search on the forum about pre amps (half of them are mine, iiisshhh), this is one of the main subjects that people discuss in here. Hope this helps!!
