I use it on a 12" Celestion. Prefer it to SM57s on amps actually. Just point it at the place that sounds the best to you. The more straight-on, the less bass picked up -- and visa versa. Plus, you can roll off some low with the mic itself. Nothing complicated. Don't overthink it. Plug, point and record.
yes..i am used to using 57s on amps and like the sound a lot. but i think the 421 gets a better response and offers some clarity that the 57 doesn't. i like both but was wondering who is using the 421 and how they are using it. thanks again
I love them on all drums, guitar cabinets, vocal microphones, double bass, Latin percussion and for sound effects since they are nearly impervious to overload. A fantastic microphone to own. Buy a bag of them!
