my first suggestion would be to plug 12 mic straight into the Firepod

however it's obvious that you want to use the dynamix and it's facilities like EQ and routing and it probably sets up the headphone cue mix

it can also sub mix

Generally mic into the Dynamix and direct outs and sub mix out into the Firepod

channels 1 and 2 are Mic or Instrument
channels 3 to 8 are Mic or Line

So
get two DI boxes that can handle Line level and connect this to the direct outs or submix outs of the Dynamix.
Set for Line input.
this will balance and PAD back a line level signal to a Mic level signal and this is usable into Mics 1 and 2 of the Firepod

Firepod 1 and 2 should probably be considerred as the last two inputs and used only when needed
UNLESS
you actually like the sound of the DI into the Firepod Mic ... which is possible.
I often record synths in this way

A variety of DI boxes could be ok
passive or active

some passive ideas
http://www.jensen-transformers.com/apps_sc.html

standard styled DI box
http://www.jensen-transformers.com/as/as007.pdf
it shows the output PAD option and when it would fit in the signal chain

this one is a typical intrument DI and not quite suitable for this app
http://www.jensen-transformers.com/as/as066.pdf

these will both look very similar from the outside and use the same Transformer
so you need to be aware of what they are designed to do.

I have some transformers that will work here without any other components
similar to this

Do you know the spec for the line outputs of the Dynamix ?
I'm guessing, unbalanced at around 0dBu to +4dBu and could be low imp output of around 600 ohms
so
you want a DI that can handle this level without saturating or clipping then provide a balanced Mic level for the firepod.

this should be an easy find

thanks Crank

didn't see that on the picture I saw on the net

so now I don't see the problem
apart from fitting 12 into 8

?
on the web site now
the FP10 seems to be the replacement for the Firepod
it does't say that 1 and 2 can be line level

however 1 and 2 do have fully balanced send and return

the returns can be used as Line Inputs

which unit do you have and what are the features on the back panel ?
