I can tell you what I use to some degree of success--not my wish list.

overheads-km184 in x/y
Kick-MD421 highly recommended it sounds great.
Snare- Beta 57--a standard
Room- Royer R121 --sounds great
Gave up micing toms, hi-hats cause never used them.
Gave up micing beater side of kick cause I can the MD421 has alot of clean attack with some eq.
5 mics total

Electric guitar
Royer 121 8 inches in front of speaker

Acoustic guitar
Royer and KM184's for stereo

Vocals
M147--best I have
Royer

Bass guitar--mostly direct but
MD421
Beta52

That is pretty much it for me. I guess my wish list would be a little different, maybe some KM84's and an elux 251 for vocals, but other than that it works for me.

For brass I heard to use another Sennheiser. Can't remember the model but it's like a 421 except longer and skinnier (silver color) don't believe they make em any more. Maybe someone else knows what I'm talk ting about. 8-) -matty

does anyone use two mics on a guitar cab? I've seen a cardioid mic pointed right at the center of the cone, then one with the figure eight look set to pick up the outside of the cone. gonna try to draw a picture.

I use my own guitar rig whenever I record Rock Guitars. I have 2 Bogner 4x12 cabs loaded with all kinds of different speakers. but I almost always use a couple SM57's a couple of Senn e609's Senn 421's and the trusty Royer 121's

B. Accoustic Guitars
All depends on what kind of Acc. it is but I normally start with a TLM103 and a AT 4040 through a UA 6176 pre.

III. Bass
Always direct through my Ureka Mic Pre (CAll me lazy)

IV. Vocals
1. Lead Vocals

3. Big Southern Babtist Black lady with HUGE tone!

G. anything else you use to mic a kit - at4050 as a single, front of kit mic
