hi guys (especially, mike, john and tomas...),

i am about to purchase a new CD / DVD! re-writer from plextor, the question is which model do you recommend for use with a G4 powermac...

i have heard that the new plextor models containing samsung drives and that only the casing / branding is plextor and that they start to lack of quality? is it a rumor? (as i personally guess, it is)

so however the question is, would you guys go for a px-716 or a px-740 (the latest / newest model, as far as i know!)

also, plextools is PC only, right

which DVD creation / burning software do you recommend on MAC booth OS9 and OSX (yupp, i am still using fairly often OS9 because of some very old software i love!), but obviously only OSX is ok as well as i can swapp anytime to create DVDs...

thanks a lot

:D axel

cheers, mike and john for the info.

so hmm... that with the nec drive makes me think, but i will go probably with the 716, unless i get some more input on the topic...

still a bit confused about the software, thou... assume i only go for OSX for creating DVDs what company is DVD studio pro from?? sorry, but DVD is still an unknown chapter to me... (i know, i know... but for some starnge reason i got my first DVD requests just lately... so basically not much clue about it, yet :D )

and hey mike, yeah.. i know the issue about OS9 it's really dying out, i wouldn't mind so much if i would not have some really old software, which i really love (or better say old versions) they just perform so stable and well, like peak 2.63 i found so much better then 4.14 or 5 (just my experience!!!) but fair enough that they want to get into OSX only on the other hand... i guess it's just a matter of time... to catch up...

thanks, axel
