Just a friendly hello to everyone out there in audio land! I stumbled across this board while searching for mastering tips and I must say, I'm very glad I did! I have just finished up my first ever album, and its just heading into the mastering process. I'm going to take a crack at doing it myself, so I will be relying on you guys a lot over the next little while!

Anyways, my name is Alex Parker, and I have been into sound engineering for 11 years now. I graduated from a recording school in 95, and have been farting around ever since. Now 30, I have just finished up a near year and a half extended recording session, getting our music to the point it is at currently.

I am mastering with Cubase sx3 mainly, as well as wavelab. I use the URS eq's (they sound incredible) along with hardware drawmer and Alesis gates, compressors, and limiters. I know this is'nt an ideal setup, but I am making the most of it, until I can afford to upgrade. Thanks in advance for all the help I know Im going to recieve off of this board. Its so nice to meet like minded people!

Alex

If you are loking to learn from this project, great. If you are looking to master a project you have put your blood, sweat and tears into, take it to a mastering house. They have invested not just in equipment, but also built their rooms to be accoustically suited to mastering. The room is as important as the equipment, and none of it is as important as experience. I don't mean to discourage you, take it as far as you can, and then hire a professional.
Good luck
