Now THAT's a heck of a job - Roadie for Jesus Christ!!! He'd be a good reference for future jobs for SURE! Does he make you all sit on the same side of the table at dinner time? I bet you don't see him headlining with Judas Priest ever...
(Sorry...I just couldn't resist...)
If you're needing to close mic the drums and those are the kits available to you to purchase, I would personally choose the Audix package. It's a pretty good package for the money. I've also found their service to be a bit more personal if you ever need it.
For overheads, the 184s are likely to be the best choice for live as they're a little less likely to feed back. They're also noticably brighter than the 103s. Whether this is good or bad is entirely up to you.
Cheers-
Jeremy
Pass on my respects to the big guy. ;-)
