first off, great site, I'm in awe of all this knowledge. my problem is that I'm trying to sample vinyl and I'm running my turntable through a super old school reciever that's connected to a usb compatible mixer. the mixer has two usb outputs plugged into my mac and ive just been using soundtrack as my recording software.
-when i open soundtrack it says i dont have enough output jacks, which confuses me.
-when i record the audio doesn't seem to be coming directly into the computer, i can hear the turntable's playback through my own moniters, so the input switch on my mixer above the fader is flipped to input or whatever as opposed to the usb plugin . i have to turn up the moniters super loud to record anything, and it's always super quiet and i have to normalize it. it's not recording through the computer's built in mic, i made sure of that, other than that ive toggled my cables and pored through the preferences in soundtrack and can't figure it out. maybe i need a different preamp? any help is appreciated. thanks in advance.

Two USB connections to the Mac?
Give us more clues if you want an informed response - e.g. make and model of mixer, type of Mac etc.
