What daw are you running? What type of music are you usually working with? I use these a lot..

Izotope Nectar 2, Izotope Alloy, Izotope Ozone 5, and Waves has a dual 30 band EQ, but I can't remember the name of it.

I may think of more, but those immediately come to mind. Izotope's stuff is pretty all inclusive. Nectar for example, has, inside of it...compression, parallel compression, saturation, reverb, delay, effects, EQ, and I haven't even touched the surface. So, they take a little while to learn. You can turn different aspects of it on and off, but it gives you a lot of good starting points. Go through the presets, find something that's close to what you want, then fiddle with the particulars. And save, save, save your own presets. If you don't like them later, just delete them. But it's a pain when you had something good and then you mucked it up and it's gone now.

And I'm not a fan of the compressors inside of them, so I usually just use the stock PT compressor.

I'm Logic Pro user, if AU plugins then might be the best way to deal with, haha. Most of the time processing genre of Pop, Country Rock, Ballad, more on band type.

**Btw, I'm looking for some FREE stuffs to play around with the stock plugins

Which Logic? Logic X has pretty much everything you need...

The pi's I mentioned will work with Logic/au.

Be careful of the freebees. There is a thread here of notable and current free pi's. But a lot of times, they come with hidden expirations, or other crap. Not all of them...just saying check it out first. It's free for a reason, and that reason is to make money off you in the future. But some companies don't rely on you loving their free pi for that, so they do it in other ways.

Soft Tube is the one I had the most problems with....since your asking. I don't know what caused the problem, it may have been user error. I just got burned a few times and stopped using free ones.

I didn't realize you wanted free until later in the thread, sorry. I didn't even notice the word lol.

I use Pro Tools 10/11 or Logic X. But PT is my daw of choice. Whatever foundation you can build your best work flow off of. Which for me is PT. I love it. I only use Logic bc for a while I was working w/o a studio, and you can write in Logic X with a laptop and headphones and it cranks along just fine. In my limited experience, PT crashes a lot w/o an outboard processor. So I have all these old projects in Logic that I need to finish up and it's just easier to do it in Logic than to transfer the session to PT.

The new Logic blows Logic 9 away. At this point though, it might be worth investigating how long until a Logic 11 comes out.

Using a Mac for audio production? Ah, yes, I remember the 90s.

A couple of decades ago Mac computers briefly had the edge in media production. That hasn't been the case for over a decade but Apple has been capitalizing on that perceived but fictional advantage ever since. I'm just doing my part to erode the myth and bring a little hope to Mac victims.
