Judging by the sound of this song..What equipment should I look into.. I Have a PreSonus Firestudio, sm 57's, and an AKG perception 220. I have Sonar with Waves diamond.

The song is Hello.

edaub1,
I like your tune "Hello", good work. There is a little timing issue at 3:33 when your drumming to 16ths but its minor. I think you should try to post it on soundclick. Mp3s at 120mbps sound way better than myspace. Generally when I post on here I use soundclick it just sounds so good.

Prescription? Those are genuine dual-gel 3D paper-cutouts.

We've gone totally off topic too.

Mixing tips are very dependent on the mix, and as for gear, we can't pluck random names out of a hat. Acoustic treatment is maybe something to look into, unless you are in a large room.

Every time I click on that link, knowing what's coming....
And I still click it every time! :o

Seriously Codemonkey, your humor, insights, and visage are a blessing.

To the OP -

Most of the actual suggestions given are quite good.
I have problems telling you what to get b/c I have one song to work with. I'd have to hear a bunch of your songs to even make a guess as to what gear to improve on. Guitarfreak is right in that things like mic placement, gain staging, and mix techniques play a HUGE role in the finished product.

If you have the money to blow on a nice preamp or mic, do your research, and you won't be disappointed.

Facts:
Making a noticeable improvement in the quality of your signal chain at any point will yield better results. Making a noticeable improvement of your whole signal chain will yield much better results.

Never forget the factor of "operator error" though. That nullifies both of those facts. I know it's the #1 limiting factor in my work.
