Pardon my inexperience... I want to "master" my own project for now... is there a way to produce a red book compliant CDR with less than 2 sec. gaps between tracks? (Old guys - remember LZep's Heartbreaker/Livin'Lovin'Maid segue?). Can this be done in compliance with Red Book. I'm using Sonic Foundry's CD Architect and it seems to require 2s.
Thanks

Coming from the Macintosh world, I can give you my experience.

I started out with a USB CD burner using Toast 4.1, which would let you choose a time range between 0-6 seconds before burning your audio; however, even at 0 seconds there'd be a minute gap. So I blamed the software, and tried out Adaptec's Jam software which would let you do crossfades and such...except I discovered it wouldn't work with USB burners (at least, not the one I was using). So then I blamed my hardware. However, when I picked up Toast 5, I miraculously discovered it wrote CD's with no gaps between tracks, using the same burner I've had all along. Which made me take note that I was writing CD's with "disc-at-once"--which incidentally I thought I was doing all along.

In summary of the tale, Roxio Toast Titanium 5 can do it on a Mac, but I dunno what works on a PC. But just check if whatever package you use a) supports your CD burner (there's usually a compatability list on the software or hardware mfg's website) and b) supports disc-at-once writing.

Hope that was a little better than non-help,

Gabriel

Gary,
I used to use CD Architect until I jettisoned Bill Gates' evil empire. It is the only thing I miss from the windows world. All you need to do is left click and hold a .wav to move it closed to what came before it. You can even select automatic crossfade in preferences and drag the beginning of one over then end of the previous and a crossfade is generated. You can re-draw them as well.
