Hi!
I'm looking to buy a tube pre, either a Sebatron VMP 2000Evu($1499.00) or a Universal 2610($1749.00).
What is the difference in sound quality between the two? Which would be a better investment?
I'm also interested in a tube mic, something in the $600.00 range. What about the RODE K2 or ADK TC . How's the quality/sound on these two? Any opinions?
Thanks
Tom
While I have very little personal experience with the Rode mic,
While I have very little personal experience with the Rode mic, those whos' ears and attitudes are some I can trust, have said it is quite good.Bright and detailed while retaining its warmth. The ADK mics are not hyped as some Chinese capsuled mics are and are smooth and detailed. The ADK is a single pattern while the Rode is variable. Both are in the upper class of intermediately priced LDC mics and I'm sure would work well in most circumstances. This is a situation where only your ears can tell you which you will like better for your purposes.
I like both pres very much and again its simply as matter of taste as both are well designed and built to last.Personally,I would probably opt for the Seb first. The Universal is far down my personal list of things to own.
Both mics will perform very well with these pres in the path.
