strange i thought i had already responded to you and now i dont see it... oh well... i've got an1884 and it's pretty much of a love hate thing with most users i've spoken with... there were issuses with blowing pre's early on that have been rectified... and tascam support sucks real hard... cant speak to it's use with those progs as i'm on cubase4 but i wouldnt give it up easilly!!! even if it takes awhile to get the hang of it...

Since I posted I kind of read the same about the unit. It sounds kind of buggy, and mainly for newer DAWs.

I'm looking now at the Mackie Onyx series. Mackie has always made me happy thus far, and the FireWire sounds promising. Plus the pres and sound of the analog sound are impressive.

nothing wrong with the mackies... but that aint a controller either.... no midi functions... and IIRC the track # is limted by comparison as well... the tascam can get up to 18in's at once with the adat and spdif... happy hunting...
