Last days I've tried to change my audio configuration, so it looks in that way now: WinXp, DAW (Cubase) - firewire connection to Firewire 410 - SPDIF Out to SPDIF In at Tascam (coax) - Tascam Analog Out(L+R) to active monitors.

Hello all, I've been browsing the forums for a bit and figured I should just ask my own question.
Well, I've basically made up my mind, I want a PreSonus. after reading around here and getting an idea of what some of the different interfaces offer this is what I'm gonna go for.
So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. To answer your preliminary questions; the headphones are fine and no it doesn't happen in playback. At first I thought it might have been a bad jack, but how could it be the jack if it doesn't distort during playback? Also, it doesn't matter how low my levels are when recording, it still distorts.

No sound. I paid for a twenty dollar optical cable hoping these connections would get me a digital audio* connect. The Tascam fw-1804 won't even read a signal coming in.

I'm not an audio guy, but my job has me recording and editing. We are using Audition 2 and recently purchased Tascam FW-1082 boards. The only useful thing on the board seems to be the gain knob. The sliders don't adjust anything while recording. Also, the gain knob is only useful during the last 1/4 of it's rotation. Anything less than that, and the sound doesn't record.

Can I daisy chain the FW410 to the Firestudio via firewire or not? I've got the FW410 plugged into the Firestudio and the connection is bus powering my FW410 but I'm not getting any signal through to the FireStudio's interface on my MAC Pro.
I'm a little confused as to how I would set this up.
I am using a Tascam FW-1082 as my firewire interface to Cubase 4. I would like to continue using the Tascam controls, but integrate different preamps like the Mackie 1200F. Since I can't use more than 1 ASIO driver at a time, I can't just connect a second FW cable from the Mackie.
