CD Architect burns red book! But it only works on win9x, and doesn't work with every burner out there. I have it, and recommend it highly! Although, Sonic Foundry dropped support for it and discontinued developing it. You can still find it for sale on the net.
Make sure you check out Sonic Foundry for supported burners before you buy it, if you consider it.

I reccomend Wavelab..works in Win98..2k and supports all burners and Steinberg is constantly adding support for many drives and so forth..simple editing..real time processing..great interface..two track editing with the ability to record to the two track as well!! I'd like to see Sound Forge do that one as well as burn it in redbook format!! pppbbbllllllt to you ljp!!! hee hee

heh, because CD Arch does things that wavelab only DREAMS about! It does work on win2k, but just won't burn on my machine ( for some reason).
CD Arch fully supports PQ code editing, including track and index positions and pause times, Universal Product Codes (UPC), Media Catalog Numbers (MCN), Industry Standard Recording Codes (ISRC), reads and extracts Q data along with audio, print or copy cue sheets to the clipboard, copy-inhibit flags,

OK, I checked out the URL that you gave, and found the list of compatible CDRs, but when I go back to the Sonic Foundry site, and view their products, I see no reference to CD Architect. You mentioned that SF is no longer supporting it, but also said it was avail. on the net...any references?

I currently use Sound Forge 5.0 for some final 2-track mastering, so CD Arch could be appealing over Wavelab...

hehe...OK...fine, I checked out Wavelab on the Steinberg Website, and it looks pretty cool, but I already have most of that functionality in Sound Forge (and I just upgraded to version 5.0).

Any ideas how to get ahold of a copy of CD Architect? I assume its going to be a lot cheaper than going with a whole new program like Wavelab...

I have no idea of what wavelab is capable of. I've only tried the demo. ahhhh, I see it now... I could never find it...

The problem with cd architect is that sonic foundry
HAS dropped support for it. Completely washed their hands about it. I've seen places with it for sale still. It's still expensive- $299. Wavelab is $429 The problem is, there will be NO more updates for it, and if you install the program and it
doesn't function... there's only forums to turn too. There's no demo version, and CD Arch does not work from within Sound Forge 5, like you'd probably think (I did, that why I bought SF5)(it comes with sound forge 4.5),. It DOES have a nice waveform view of the cd being made.

That said, there IS a free program for converting a CD Arch cd image (it puts it into a wav file) into an ISO image for writing with a cd burning software you know works. (in case the software doesn't work with your burner for some odd reason)

Wavelab does have some nice features, like the tabs at the bottom!!

Tough choice, dude! :confused:

You might want to call or write to see if you can get them to lower the price even lower, because SF dropped all support for it, and they'll probably want to unload the damn thing off the shelf.
