Uncle Kurt, at this very moment, I am recording electric guitars for the last songs of my album.
Sure I have a few amps but....
I preferred using: Ibanez RG440 into a Klark Teknik Dbox bused to 2 tracks of PT
(1) Amp Farm > Compressor Bank 2 > Tc Chorus
(2) Sans Amp > Compressor Bank 2

Parallel reverbs: Spx 990 room/plate + Lexicon Stero Chorus

The tone is pretty cool. Tweaking of course, adding some reverbs, light chorus.. I will show ya when it is ready... A mix of Chic, Tears for fears. George Duke...

This actually sounds pretty good. I personally like the merit of being able to record once direct (with external monitoring through a seperate signal chain with an amp) then being able to mess with the tone to my heart's content in the box itself. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Also check out long-standing [="http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/trash/listeningroom.html"]Trash[/]="http://www.izotope…"]Trash[/] from iZotope... you can't go wrong with something less than half the price and more weird noises to play around with.

I personally liked the Trash demoes better than McDSP's new toy, but that's just me.

[[url=http://="http://www.izotope…"]PianoCab.mp3[/]="http://www.izotope…"]PianoCab.mp3[/] - Trash has all the components you need to emulate the gear we know and love. But the real power is the ability to create your own Trash. For this one, we used multiband clipping, into tube saturation, into an amp that's mounted inside a piano cabinet.

All I can say is lollerskates. It actually sounds creepily like the way they describe it.
