" Rosswelite" sounds like something from Area 51? So, Joe, when do you suppose we'll be able to get replacement ribbons like this for our Beyer M160/130's along with our RCA 77 DX's? I mean are we talking just a stiffer piece of foil? Or some alien captured technology? What will Wes Dooley Dooley?

Not that I need any ribbons replaced. Well, one actually. Perhaps if used for broadcasting they might be radioactive? It sounds creepy.

If they indeed keep true to the Crowley & Tripp design, I bet they're going to be pretty good.

From Soundwave Research Laboratories Blog:

"Roswellite is the trademarked name of a new nano-enabled ribbon material invented, patented and produced by Soundwave Research Laboratories, Inc. and used in certain Crowley and Tripp microphones. Roswellite is also known as "acoustic nanofilm". It is an extremely strong, low mass, superelastic, paramagnetic composite with high inherent conductivity and shape memory properties. Roswellite can be employed to replace the "foils" such as those used in ribbon microphones. Due to its high strength, toughness and shape retaining properties, Roswellite can withstand windblast, plosives, phantom power applications, and high sound pressure levels, even at low frequencies. Well I'm sold if they sound good. Just because it's indestructible doesn't mean it's acoustically desirable. But if it's designed for this purpose? It may have its merits. But I don't think they replace ribbons in M-160's? They just replace the entire ribbon capsule. So who is going to be first in trying to repair my microphone? I mean I'll do it since I have nothing to lose. And that's a dual ribbon design. This is one thing I have not yet attempted in my entire career so I guess it's time? It's only taken me 40 years. Where do I get this stuff? I would imagine from Google?
