I was wondering if anyone else was considering racking a pair (or more) of GT Bricks. I think the layout could be improved by doing this as well as the looks of the unit. Moving the XLR's to the rear with the power and keeping the trim, DI and power switch up front. The A/C could be rewired so that only 1 power cord is needed to power the units. I figure you could get up to 4 bricks in a 2U chasis (although I haven't tested it) . If anyone else is interested in this type of project maybe we can all work together, group buys on parts or whatever.

Kev, if your interested or if you would like to just provide guidance for some novice DIYers it would be greatly appreciated.

why doesn't everybody just use the metric system?

because inches, feet, yards and miles are better than meters.

Back in the 80's "we" americans were supposted to convert over to the Metric system, as directed by the President.
However, President Reagan was later sh  t. Remember?
And ever since that event in history. We don't have time for "un important" stuff like Math and numbers. Or a system that is easily understood around the world.
Only legacy Reagan left was a son that says "everything that his dad did was wrong and is still hurting America to this very day"
Reagan tried his best to bring us "together" and make more sense of the world, one of these were ideas like the Metric system.
But just like the republicians "war on drugs" they have lost that one too.

I could only imagine asking my local "drug dealer" (plant dealer) for, so many meters of weed.

im kind of allong with guy on that one, not directed at any one person but i dont have time to type in word then bring it over to the forum.

on this topic: i use mozilla firefox there is a plug in for it that helps spellcheck, i just got it, and its not 100% accurate. but all you have to do is right click(another reason i love my PC) and at the bottom of the popuplist is a list of possible spellings.

cool. but i still refuse to use the SHIFT key. sorry.

"The Meters" are a band ...

Ooh you evil Kurt! That is like saying that wall warts are better than 60V rails...

The Meters were a pretty good band too!

Don: Did you ever get my pictures of the Brick?

mmmm maybe

cos lots of electrical components have dimensions and leg spacings in inches
yet we drill the holes in the PCB's as metric holes ... ???

BUT

for the racked or boxed GT-Bricks, most of this work is already done, so you can do what you like when is comes to mounting the basic units
...
I do tend to use metric screws

Grooveteer, Awesome job man!!!!! Above and beyond the call. that last one was the best. Hey maybe a new ad campaign.

I've been real busy lately with redoing my racks and cabling, set up on guitars and basses, testing new drum heads (G2's record even better than coated) and making up a snake just for drums to speed setup.

I guess this project kind of fell to the back of the line. Time to get back on it.

So Kev, do you see any issues from the photos?

I also can't proceed until I find a supplier for a rack face and a chasis. Anyone know of one? Do I have to make it myself?

Thanks again Grooveteer

I got my Brick!!!

Unfortunately, now I have the need for SEVEN MORE OF THESE BAD MOTHERS!!! Okay, its not a "need", just "GREED"!

Holy crap! Do I deserve this sound for $350?

Aspen, Leland, and the bunch deserve a big HELL YEAH! for this bit of kit!

I feel so fat, warm and fuzzy, that I think I'm going to have an accident in my pants!

And this thread officially rocks! :D

Thanks Recording.org for again steering my ignorant ass in the right direction!

I don't see any specific problems in the photos

I've started to have a re-arrangement of my web sites ...
so the new RO site is rather empty and needs something to get it started again

(Dead Link Removed)

the GT rack and the supply voltage/levels/output thing could be a good start

I've started a little work on a levels page at the Factory
