I recently just bought a MXL V63M Condenser Microphone, Nady 10' USB interface Chord and I have been trying to figure out how to make this stuff work on my Mac Os X.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING. I though I could just put the USB chord with the mic and shazam but I have a feeling thats not the only thing I need.

What else do I need to do?

P.S. Yeah, I know I'm pretty dumb.

There are no pc or mac inputs that have built in phantom power. I don't know where you got that info. The Nady xlr to usb cable does not supply phantom power either. As Guitafreak said, you need a true interface of some sort. Nothing by SoundBlaster will be sufficient. You need an actual audio interface designed for audio recording rather than just playback. Fortunately these are incredibly affordable these days. Pick one. There are many. Just make sure it has phantom power.

Well, if you get the Tascam you will also get a software package and a mic preamp which is essential as well. I don't think the cheap options are an option in any way. Spend a little bit of money and you will thank yourself later.

Always make sure to download the latest software and drivers from the manufacturer.
