I am trying to make a synth melody, but each time I press a key the tone comes in too loud, although the sustained tone afterwards sounds okay. How do I decrease the initial "attack" sound so that I get a smooth tone even from the beginning?
I come up with weird solutions, but I would try a noise gate. Ha
I come up with weird solutions, but I would try a noise gate. Have a fast time for it to activate, and a slow time to release. When its silent, the gate blocks the noise, then when you press the note, you have a fade from the start of the note, long enough to cancel out the attack. When the note ends, the gate activates quickly - so that it's ready for the next note.
There will be other ways to do this though, I'm not familiar with Reason or synths.
