I think I mainly liked the first one because it had more punch and was still clear. For the other takes it seemed to pick up the snare differently that I just didnt like. Plus it made the cymbals really wishywashy.

Generally, I thought the 1st one sounded the best.

I'm gonna have to go with #1 as well. Much clearer, warmer and more detailed than the others. It's tough to tell which would sit best in the mix w/o playing around /w the whole kit but as stand-alone mics, it's def. #1.

Just to give a bit of what I am doing. I am not looking for a big room sound. The drums are being tracked in a smaller room. I am going to use the rooms to bring the individual mics on the kit together.

All of those mics where tracked through a Focusrite 428 into a rosetta 200 to logic. I will be using the normal close mics, 57, D112, 421's etc. Most of the mics in the test were budget mics to see if they could cut it for a good room mic.
