i'm using my MOTU 896 firewire drivers to record and playback during shows or takes at home.
but when leaving a show, and sitting in the van, heading home - i'd like to be able to put my headphones on, plug into the PC headphone out and listen to what i've recorded.
WITHOUT having to use my 896 (since there's no power supply in the van.. ;) - my PC is on batteries here..).
but i can't figure out,
how to use both the
MOTU 896 for recording AND playback, at a show and
headphones out (internal soundcard) for when relaxing in the van.
any help, pointers?

the 896 is firewire and if you disconnect it from the laptop won
the 896 is firewire and if you disconnect it from the laptop won't the computer start using again it's soundcard?
i record reharsals with a little cheap usb thing so i can get a stereo track to a laptop! when i disconnect it the computer starts using it's soundcard!
